Span Systems International is the international center of Span Systems Inc., an American company that has over 30 years of experience in the design, fabrication and installation of advanced tensile membrane structures.

 

SSI and its design office is based in Budapest, Hungary. We are responsible for the design, engineering and managment of membrane structure projects built mainly in the United States, Europe and Middle-East. The decades of close partnership with Gépszev-Spandome Center in Hungary and other significant fabric and steel manufacturer and fabricator companies allows us to realize complex tensile membrane systems of any shape and size cost-effectively using the best steel, PVC and PTFE material quality.

SSI provides consultation in any stage of architectural projects. From start to finish, we keep constant communication with our clients throughout the entire process. Our goal is to make the innovative and relatively newly developed industry's alternative solutions become less intimidating and more like a creative process with a satisfying outcome.

design and engineering

Our engineering design team has decades of experience specifically in the field of membrane structures. With out strategic partnership with the Budapest Technical University, our certified structural designs meet the building code requirements for extreme wind, rain, snow, and seismic loads as well as fire safety, energy conservation, etc. The wind behaivor of large, unique shapes and configurations is typically confirmed by advanced wind tunnel analysis that provides the greatest design accuracy and efficiency.

SSI manages the entire process:

  1. Preliminary consultation about the project's concept.
  2. Engineering and design of final shape and function
  3. Fabic fabrication according to digital patterning
  4. Steel manufacuring according to precise member design done with AutoCad
  5. Shipment of fabric, main steel elements and other necessary accessories
  6. Installation and maintenance

All decisions throughout these steps are also approved by the owner and/or general contractor of the project.

The decades of close partnership with Gépszev-Spandome Center, here in Hungary, and other significant fabric and steel manufacturer and fabricator companies allows us to manufacture, fabricate and install tensioned membrane structures of any size cost-effectively using the best steel, PVC and PTFE material quality.

We are also working together with the Technical University in Budapest in the innovation of design, structural elements, and on the improvement of practical efficiency per application. It is our constant goal to keep up with the rapid advancement of modern technology by implementing current solutions for both structural function and installation procedures to make the overall process quicker and more productive and the final result more appealing for our customers.

Our collaboration with ÉMI, the architectural quality control facility in Budapest, and the Technical University of Essen, allows us to constantly examine and frequently test the behavior and performance of the fabric and steel materials of choice.
